Temple Details
The Sita Samahit incident in Valmiki Ramayana is an important chapter in the life of Maa Sita. After conquering Ravana, Sita had to undergo Agni Pariksha, the humiliation of which saddened her and she went to the ashram of Sage Valmiki. There she gave birth to twin sons named Luv and Kush.
After the passage of time, Luv and Kush reached Ayodhya and introduced themselves to Lord Rama as his sons. Rama did not believe, then Sage Valmiki narrated the Ramayana and made him realize the truth. Sita entered Ayodhya and met Rama.
But, some people doubted Sita's character. Distressed by this insult, Sita prayed to Maa Earth and urged her to give proof of her purity. Maa Earth appeared and Sita was absorbed in her lap.
The Sita Samahit incident is a symbol of sacrifice, patience and purity. Maa Sita showed patience and sacrifice even after facing many insults in life. She followed the path of truth and religion in life, no matter how much suffering she had to endure.
The temple is dedicated to Maa Sita, allowing devotees to offer prayers, perform pujas (rituals) like Manokamana Aarti Puja, Shringar Aarti, Deep Daan (lamp offering), and express their reverence for her.
Visiting the temple strengthens one's connection to the Ramayana, a cornerstone of Hindu mythology. It allows for reflection on the epic's teachings and a deeper understanding of Sita's character.
The temple's serene atmosphere and association with Sita are believed to bring peace and blessings to devotees. Also the site likely held religious importance for centuries. Visiting the temple connects devotees to this long cultural tradition.
Inspired by Swami Jitendranand Tirth's vision, a magnificent Sita Samahit temple now stands on the sacred mound. Built by Late Shri Satya Narain Prakash Punj, it features shrines to Sita, Shiva, and a towering 108ft Hanuman statue. This historical site attracts pilgrims seeking blessings and a connection to the five holy "Teerths" of Poorvanchal.
